![Want to make your own sourdough? It all starts with a simple starter! Let’s go day by day—by the end, you’ll have a bubbly, active culture ready for baking!
📌 Day 1:
Clip: Adding flour & water to a jar]
🥄 Mix 20g wheat flour + 20g water in a clean jar (extra tip: before use, pour boiled water into it, then pour it out, wait until the bottle cools down). Stir well your mixture, close with the lid, and leave at room temp.
📌 Day 2:
Clip: Looking at the jar, maybe a few bubbles forming]
👀 You might see tiny bubbles! If not, don’t worry. Use a new clean jar and measure in 20g from your starter. Feed it with 20g flour + 20g water, stir, and do not close with the lid of the jar, just put on the top or cover with a clean kitchen towel.
📌 Day 3:
Clip: More bubbles, slightly risen starter]
✨ It’s alive! Keep feeding it twice a day (every 12 hour), in the morning and evening. If you’re a little late, don’t worry—it’s not a big deal. In a clean jar, mix 20g starter with 20g flour and 20g water. Stir well, keep it warm, and remember—it might smell a bit funky, but that’s totally normal!
📌 Day 4-5:
Clip: Starter doubling in size]
🔥 Now it’s getting active! Just keep going! Discard half, then feed 20g flour + 20g water every 12 hours. It should rise & fall predictably.
📌 Day 6-7:
Clip: Fluffy, bubbly starter]
🎊 Almost there! Keep up the routine. It should smell slightly tangy and rise within 4-6 hours of feeding.
📌 Day 8:
Clip: Starter passes the “float test”—a spoonful floats in water]
🥖 Ready to bake! If your starter doubles after feeding & passes the float test, you’ve made it! 🎉
